Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and experienced English Teacher to join our dynamic faculty. This role offers the potential for Head of Department (HOD) responsibilities for the right candidate. The successful teacher will deliver outstanding A-Level English instruction, inspire students to achieve academic excellence, and contribute to the development of our English curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Instruction:

  • Teach A-Level English Language and/or English Literature to senior high school students

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that cater to diverse learning styles

  • Prepare students for Cambridge A-Level English examinations with excellent results

  • Foster critical thinking, analytical writing, and effective communication skills

  • Utilize innovative teaching strategies and educational technology

  • Provide timely, constructive feedback on student work

Assessment & Progress Monitoring:

  • Design and implement formative and summative assessments

  • Track and analyze student progress data

  • Prepare students for internal and external examinations

  • Maintain accurate records of student achievement and attendance

  • Identify and support students requiring additional assistance

Curriculum Development:

  • Develop scheme of work, lesson plans, and teaching resources aligned with Cambridge standards

  • Contribute to curriculum review and enhancement

  • Integrate cross-curricular connections and real-world applications

  • Stay current with best practices in English language and literature education

Student Support & Pastoral Care:

  • Serve as form tutor or mentor (if applicable)

  • Support students' academic and personal development

  • Guide students with university applications and personal statements

  • Promote a positive, inclusive classroom environment

  • Encourage participation in extracurricular activities (debate, drama, writing clubs, etc.)

Professional Collaboration:

  • Participate in departmental meetings, school events, and professional development

  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices

  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress

  • Potential HOD Responsibilities (for experienced candidates):

    • Lead departmental initiatives and curriculum development

    • Mentor junior teachers and conduct lesson observations

    • Coordinate assessment and examination preparation

    • Manage departmental resources and budget

Qualifications & Requirements

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, English Literature, Education, or related field

  • Valid teaching certification/license from home country (e.g., PGCE, QTS, State License)

  • Minimum 2-3 years of teaching experience, preferably in international schools

  • Experience teaching Cambridge A-Level English Language and/or Literature

  • Strong knowledge of A-Level curriculum, assessment, and examination requirements

  • Excellent command of English (native or near-native proficiency)

  • Outstanding classroom management and interpersonal skills

  • Commitment to student-centered learning and continuous improvement

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in English, Education, or related field

  • Experience in leadership or curriculum development roles

  • Familiarity with international education and Asian cultural context

  • Experience with university counseling or extracurricular activities

  • Proficiency in educational technology and digital learning platforms

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: 28,000 - 35,000 RMB/month (before tax), negotiable based on qualifications and experience

  • Leadership Allowance: Additional compensation for HOD responsibilities
