Position Overview

We are seeking a versatile and enthusiastic Physics and Mathematics Teacher to join our Science and Mathematics departments. The ideal candidate will be qualified to teach both subjects at A-Level, bringing passion, expertise, and innovative teaching methods to inspire students in STEM fields. This dual-subject role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on students' academic and career aspirations.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Instruction:

  • Teach A-Level Physics and Mathematics to senior high school students

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that make complex concepts accessible

  • Prepare students for Cambridge A-Level Physics and Mathematics examinations

  • Foster analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and scientific inquiry

  • Utilize innovative teaching strategies, hands-on experiments, and educational technology

  • Provide timely, constructive feedback on assignments, lab reports, and assessments

Physics-Specific Duties:

  • Conduct laboratory experiments and demonstrations with emphasis on safety protocols

  • Develop students' practical skills and understanding of scientific methodology

  • Maintain and manage laboratory equipment and resources

  • Integrate real-world applications and current developments in physics

  • Supervise science projects, investigations, and research work

Mathematics-Specific Duties:

  • Teach Pure Mathematics, Mechanics, and/or Statistics as per A-Level syllabus

  • Develop students' mathematical reasoning and computational skills

  • Use technology (graphing calculators, mathematical software) to enhance learning

  • Connect mathematical concepts to physics applications and real-world scenarios

  • Prepare students for mathematical problem-solving in higher education

Assessment & Progress Monitoring:

  • Design and implement formative and summative assessments for both subjects

  • Track and analyze student performance data

  • Prepare students for internal assessments and external A-Level examinations

  • Maintain accurate records of student achievement, attendance, and behavior

  • Identify learning gaps and provide targeted intervention and support

Curriculum Development:

  • Develop scheme of work, lesson plans, and teaching resources aligned with Cambridge standards

  • Create interdisciplinary connections between Physics and Mathematics

  • Contribute to curriculum review and enhancement

  • Stay current with developments in STEM education and pedagogy

  • Integrate STEM competitions, projects, and enrichment activities

Student Support & Enrichment:

  • Mentor students in STEM career pathways and university applications

  • Support students preparing for STEM competitions (Physics Olympiad, Math competitions, etc.)

  • Encourage participation in science clubs, math societies, and research projects

  • Promote a growth mindset and resilience in challenging subjects

  • Provide additional support for students requiring extra help

Professional Collaboration:

  • Participate in departmental meetings, school events, and professional development

  • Collaborate with Science and Mathematics department colleagues

  • Share best practices and contribute to team teaching initiatives

  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress

  • Contribute to school-wide STEM initiatives and cross-curricular projects

Qualifications & Requirements

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related STEM field

  • Valid teaching certification/license from home country (e.g., PGCE, QTS, State License)

  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in international schools

  • Qualified to teach both A-Level Physics and A-Level Mathematics

  • Strong knowledge of Cambridge A-Level Physics and Mathematics curricula

  • Experience with laboratory instruction and safety management (for Physics)

  • Excellent command of English (native or near-native proficiency)

  • Outstanding classroom management and organizational skills

  • Passion for STEM education and student success

  • Ability to teach complex concepts clearly and engagingly

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Physics, Mathematics, or related field

  • Experience teaching both subjects simultaneously in international schools

  • Familiarity with Asian educational context and Chinese culture

  • Experience with STEM competitions, research projects, or enrichment programs

  • Proficiency in educational technology, simulation software, and data analysis tools

  • Additional qualifications in education or subject specialization

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: 28,000 - 35,000 RMB/month (before tax), negotiable based on qualifications and experience
