Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and creative Drama and English Teacher to join our humanities and arts departments. This exciting dual-subject role offers the opportunity to teach both IBDP/IGCSE Drama and English, inspiring students in performance, literature, and language while preparing them for international examinations.
Key Responsibilities
Drama Teaching:
Teach IGCSE Drama to Grades 9-10
Teach IBDP Theatre at Higher Level (HL) and/or Standard Level (SL) to Grades 11-12
Deliver engaging lessons in acting, directing, theatre history, and performance
Guide students in practical performance work and devising
Prepare students for IGCSE and IBDP Drama/Theatre examinations
Direct school productions, plays, and performances
Teach technical theatre skills (lighting, sound, set design, costume)
Facilitate workshops in various performance styles and techniques
English Teaching:
Teach IGCSE English Language and/or English Literature
Support students in developing reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills
Prepare students for IGCSE English examinations
Teach literary analysis, essay writing, and creative writing
Facilitate discussions on classic and contemporary texts
Provide constructive feedback on essays and coursework
Support students with personal statements and university applications
Production & Performance:
Direct and produce school plays, musicals, and performances
Organize drama clubs, workshops, and extracurricular activities
Coordinate participation in drama festivals and competitions
Collaborate with music and arts departments on interdisciplinary productions
Manage production budgets, schedules, and logistics
Ensure safety during rehearsals and performances
Assessment & Examination Preparation:
Design assessments aligned with IGCSE and IBDP criteria
Prepare students for practical and written examinations
Mark coursework and provide detailed feedback
Monitor and track student progress
Maintain accurate records of student achievement
Support students with examination techniques and performance skills
Student Support & Enrichment:
Mentor students in developing confidence and performance skills
Support students interested in theatre and performing arts careers
Guide students with drama school and university applications
Encourage participation in competitions and festivals
Provide additional support for students requiring assistance
Foster a positive, inclusive, and creative learning environment
Curriculum Development:
Develop scheme of work for both Drama and English
Create engaging lesson plans and performance opportunities
Integrate cross-curricular connections
Incorporate technology and multimedia into teaching
Stay current with curriculum updates and best practices
Contribute to departmental planning and review
Professional Collaboration:
Participate in departmental meetings and school events
Collaborate with English, Drama, and Arts colleagues
Engage in professional development opportunities
Communicate effectively with parents
Contribute to school productions and cultural events
Qualifications & Requirements
Essential:
Bachelor's degree in Drama, Theatre Arts, English, or related field
Valid teaching certification/license from home country
Minimum 2-3 years of teaching experience, preferably in international schools
Experience teaching IGCSE Drama and/or IBDP Theatre
Strong background in both drama/theatre and English education
Experience directing school productions and performances
Excellent English communication skills (native or near-native)
Strong classroom management and organizational skills
Passion for drama education and student development
Creative, enthusiastic, and collaborative
Preferred:
Master's degree in Drama, Theatre, English, or Education
Experience with IBDP Theatre and IGCSE Drama curricula
Professional theatre experience or performance background
Skills in technical theatre (lighting, sound, stage management)
Experience in international schools in Asia/China
Proficiency in educational technology and digital media
Additional skills in music, dance, or other performance arts
Experience with devising and contemporary theatre practices

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: 30,000 - 40,000 RMB/month (competitive, based on qualifications)
