Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced English Teacher specializing in IELTS preparation to join our international high school program. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality English language instruction with a focus on IELTS exam preparation, academic English skills development, and supporting students in achieving their target band scores for university admission.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Instruction

• Design and deliver comprehensive IELTS preparation courses covering all four modules: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking

• Teach Academic English and English for Specific Purposes (ESP) to senior high school students

• Develop lesson plans aligned with IELTS exam format and requirements

• Provide targeted instruction on exam strategies, time management, and test-taking techniques

Student Assessment & Progress Monitoring

• Conduct regular diagnostic tests to assess students' English proficiency levels

• Administer mock IELTS exams and provide detailed feedback

• Track individual student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly

• Prepare students to achieve target band scores (6.0-7.5+) for university admission

Curriculum Development

• Create engaging teaching materials and resources for IELTS preparation

• Integrate technology and multimedia tools to enhance learning outcomes

• Develop supplementary materials for vocabulary building, grammar reinforcement, and skills practice

• Collaborate with other English teachers to ensure curriculum consistency

Student Support

• Provide one-on-one tutoring and consultation for students needing additional support

• Guide students on university application requirements and English language expectations

• Offer feedback on personal statements and application essays

• Mentor students in developing effective study habits and self-learning strategies

Professional Development

• Participate in department meetings, training sessions, and professional development workshops

• Stay updated on IELTS exam format changes and best teaching practices

• Contribute to school events and extracurricular activities

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree (required) in English, English Education, Linguistics, or related field

• Master's degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or Education (preferred)

Certifications

• IELTS band score of 7.5 or above (with no single component below 7.0)

• TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certification (minimum 120 hours)

• Valid teaching license or certification (preferred)

Experience

• Minimum 2-3 years of teaching experience, preferably in an international school setting

• Proven track record of successfully preparing students for IELTS exams

• Experience teaching A-Level or other international curricula (preferred)

• Experience working with Chinese students (highly desirable)

Skills & Competencies

• Native or near-native English proficiency

• Deep understanding of IELTS exam format, scoring criteria, and preparation strategies

• Excellent classroom management and communication skills

• Cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively with Chinese students and parents

• Proficiency in using educational technology and online learning platforms

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple classes
