Position Overview
Lead high school physics instruction, including AP Physics 1, while delivering integrated science for Grade 9 and physical science for Grade 8. Oversee laboratory operations, AP exam preparation, and vertical curriculum alignment with lower grades.
Key Responsibilities
Teach G8 ESL & Mainstream Physical Science
Deliver G9 Integrated Science (Physics, Chemistry, Earth Science) and G9 Science Lab (experimental design, data analysis, scientific reporting)
Instruct AP Physics 1 and prepare students for College Board exams
Monitor AP performance, provide targeted tutoring, and track individual progress
Manage laboratory operations, equipment maintenance, and safety protocols
Collaborate with G1–G7 science staff to ensure seamless G7 → G8 progression
Evaluate and support potential expansion into AP Chemistry or AP Physics C
Serve as Homeroom or Deputy Homeroom Teacher (optional)
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering, or a quantitative discipline (Master’s strongly recommended)
5+ years of experience teaching AP Physics 1 or equivalent advanced physics courses
College Board AP Course Audit certification (or eligible to complete immediately upon hire)
Expertise in laboratory design, operation, and safety management
Fluent English instruction at the level required for College Board examinations
International school or English-medium teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications
Proven track record of students scoring 4+ on AP Physics exams (case examples highly recommended)
AP Chemistry or AP Physics C certification (or dual-degree eligibility)
Attendance at AP Annual Conference or AP Summer Institute
Pre-AP Physics certification
IB DP Physics teaching experience
Basic conversational Chinese or Korean
Competition coaching experience (Physics Olympiad, F=ma, etc.)
Proficiency with lab simulation & data tools (PhET, Vernier Probeware, etc.)
