Position Overview

We are seeking a warm, creative, and experienced Kindergarten English Teacher to join our early years team. The successful candidate will deliver engaging English instruction using IEYC and Montessori methodologies, creating a joyful learning environment for children aged 3-6.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning:

  • Teach English to kindergarten students (ages 3-6) using IEYC and Montessori approaches

  • Plan and deliver age-appropriate, play-based lessons

  • Create immersive English language environment

  • Use songs, games, stories, and hands-on activities

  • Implement Montessori materials and child-centered learning

  • Follow IEYC curriculum framework and learning goals

  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs

IEYC Implementation:

  • Plan and facilitate IEYC learning units and themes

  • Support children's natural curiosity and exploration

  • Integrate learning across subject areas

  • Document children's learning and development

  • Create engaging learning environments and provocations

  • Foster independence, collaboration, and creativity

Montessori Method:

  • Prepare and maintain Montessori classroom environment

  • Guide children in using Montessori materials appropriately

  • Observe and support individual learning journeys

  • Foster independence, concentration, and self-discipline

  • Respect each child's pace and interests

  • Implement mixed-age learning principles

Language Development:

  • Develop students' listening, speaking, and pre-literacy skills

  • Use Total Physical Response (TPR) and natural language acquisition methods

  • Teach phonics, vocabulary, and basic concepts through play

  • Provide opportunities for student interaction and communication

  • Build children's confidence in using English

  • Track language development progress

Child Development & Pastoral Care:

  • Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environment

  • Support children's social, emotional, and physical development

  • Establish routines and expectations appropriate for young learners

  • Build strong, respectful relationships with children

  • Address individual needs with patience and understanding

  • Promote positive behavior and social skills

  • Ensure children's wellbeing and safety at all times

Assessment & Documentation:

  • Observe and document children's progress and development

  • Use formative assessment methods appropriate for young children

  • Maintain portfolios and learning records

  • Provide feedback to parents on child development

  • Identify children needing additional support

  • Celebrate achievements and milestones

Parent Communication:

  • Communicate regularly with parents about child progress

  • Provide guidance on supporting learning at home

  • Address parent questions and concerns

  • Build positive partnerships with families

  • Participate in parent meetings and conferences

  • Involve parents in classroom activities

Classroom Management:

  • Establish clear routines and procedures

  • Create organized, resource-rich learning environment

  • Manage classroom with patience and positive reinforcement

  • Ensure classroom safety and cleanliness

  • Organize materials, toys, and learning resources

  • Display children's work and celebrate achievements

Professional Collaboration:

  • Participate in team meetings and planning

  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum and activities

  • Engage in professional development and training

  • Share ideas and resources with team members

  • Contribute to school events and activities

Qualifications & Requirements

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree (Education, Early Childhood, English, or related field preferred)

  • TEFL/TESOL certificate (120 hours minimum) or teaching certification

  • Experience teaching English to young learners (kindergarten age)

  • Knowledge of IEYC and/or Montessori methodology

  • Native or near-native English proficiency

  • Excellent pronunciation and clear speaking voice

  • Understanding of child development (ages 3-6)

  • Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for working with young children

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Cultural sensitivity and adaptability

  • Clean criminal background check

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education

  • Montessori certification (AMI or AMS)

  • IEYC training or experience

  • CELTA, DELTA, or PGCE certification

  • Experience teaching in China or Asia

  • Knowledge of phonics programmes (Jolly Phonics, etc.)

  • Experience with play-based and inquiry-based learning

  • Basic Mandarin Chinese skills (helpful but not required)

Salary Enhancements:

  • Master's degree or PhD in relevant field: Higher salary bracket

  • 10+ years of experience in early childhood education: Enhanced compensation

  • Montessori certification: Additional consideration

  • IEYC training: Preferred qualification

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: 20,000 - 25,000 RMB/month (before tax)

  • Negotiable: Based on qualifications and experience

  • Enhanced Salary: For candidates with Master's/PhD or 10+ years experience
