Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable A-Level Physics Teacher to join our science department. The successful candidate will deliver engaging Cambridge International A-Level Physics instruction, inspire scientific inquiry, and prepare students for university studies in physics, engineering, and related STEM fields.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning:

  • Teach Cambridge International A-Level Physics to senior students

  • Deliver engaging lessons covering mechanics, electricity, waves, quantum physics, and other topics

  • Prepare students for Cambridge A-Level Physics examinations

  • Conduct laboratory experiments and practical investigations

  • Foster scientific thinking, inquiry skills, and problem-solving abilities

  • Integrate theory with practical applications

  • Use innovative teaching methods and educational technology

Laboratory Management:

  • Plan and supervise hands-on laboratory activities

  • Ensure strict adherence to laboratory safety protocols

  • Maintain and manage laboratory equipment and supplies

  • Develop students' practical skills and scientific methodology

  • Guide students in completing required practicals for examinations

  • Ensure proper storage and handling of equipment and materials

  • Supervise safe use of laboratory facilities

Assessment & Examination Preparation:

  • Design formative and summative assessments aligned with Cambridge standards

  • Prepare students for A-Level Physics written and practical examinations

  • Mark coursework and provide detailed feedback

  • Monitor and track student progress toward examination goals

  • Maintain accurate records of student achievement

  • Conduct mock examinations and targeted intervention

  • Support students with examination techniques and problem-solving strategies

Student Support:

  • Mentor students in developing physics understanding and skills

  • Provide additional support for students requiring extra help

  • Challenge high-achieving students with extension activities

  • Guide students in university applications for STEM programmes

  • Encourage participation in physics competitions and science fairs

  • Foster curiosity and enthusiasm for physics

  • Create a positive, inclusive learning environment

Curriculum Development:

  • Develop comprehensive scheme of work and lesson plans

  • Create engaging teaching resources and laboratory activities

  • Integrate technology and simulations into teaching

  • Stay current with Cambridge curriculum updates and best practices

  • Contribute to departmental curriculum review and enhancement

  • Promote cross-curricular connections with mathematics and other sciences

Professional Collaboration:

  • Participate in departmental meetings and collaborative planning

  • Work with science colleagues to share best practices

  • Engage in professional development opportunities

  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress

  • Contribute to school events and science exhibitions

  • Collaborate with Chinese and international staff

Qualifications & Requirements

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Physics Education, or related field

  • Valid teaching certification/license from home country

  • Minimum 2-3 years of teaching experience, preferably in international schools

  • Proven experience teaching Cambridge International A-Level Physics

  • Strong knowledge of A-Level Physics curriculum and practical requirements

  • Experience with laboratory instruction and safety management

  • Track record of good student results in A-Level examinations

  • Excellent English communication skills (native or near-native)

  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills

  • Passion for physics education and student achievement

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Physics or Physics Education

  • Experience as an A-Level examiner or marker

  • Familiarity with Asian educational context and Chinese culture

  • Experience with Australian QCE physics curriculum (advantageous)

  • Knowledge of additional physics curricula (IB, AP)

  • Proficiency in physics simulation software and educational technology

  • Experience with differentiated instruction for diverse learners

  • Basic Mandarin Chinese skills (helpful but not required)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: 25,000 - 27,000 RMB/month (after tax - excellent net salary)
